A Foundation for Soul Care: A Soul-Care Model
"There are only a few topics about which Christians have more disparate ideas and are more deeply divided than that of psychology and soul care" (Johnson, 1995, preface). Under the tutelage of the right resources there is an opportunity for Christians to engage in common dialogue and move forward in this area while serving Christ, ourselves, and each other in Christ's name,

A Christian psychology practice: "a wise science of individual human beings that includes, theory building, research, teaching, training, and various kinds of practice, including the care of souls simply includes a Christ-centered understanding of human nature" (Johnson, 1995). It's mode of practice could be aptly labeled as an edification framework, to describe an exercise of strengthening, or "building up" the individual in his or her walk as follower and member of the Body of Christ..

God is manifest everywhere in creation, and his revelation extends from the innermost parts of our soul to the outermost parts of the infinite universe. Science is the exploration and investigation into that revelation. Psychology, in particular, is mankind's "study" (logos) of the "soul" (psukhe), and provides a valuable means of assembling and organizing the many things which we continue to discover here in God's creation. Each of our wondrously and uniquely made souls is a part of the larger universe. God made us to grow in the wisdom and knowledge of him and his universe. So, perhaps he has given us the study of our own souls both as an opportunity to serve and build each other up, as well as to help us tend to the infirmities of our mortal flesh in a troubled world. At any rate, it seems clear that we need to continue to strive to help each other care for an encourage these precious eternal souls of ours.
